So, yesterday, while I was sick as a dog, I went to the local gunshow with Mi2Tall. At the sixth table in, there is a Rossi Ranch Hand sitting on the table. I did not bring any money, and was not planning on buying anything since I JUST got the Saiga. Just with passing interest, I asked the guy what caliber it was in. I have posted before about how the .357 seems to be complete vaporware...
Well, he says that it is .357 Magnum.
Holy crap! I text the wife quickly, to confirm we had the cash in the account. Though some miscommunication (totally on my part), I almost don't get across that "This is the gun that you spent a month and a half trying to get for me for my birthday, and now I see one right in front of me!"
I get clearance, and buy the damn thing. While I was filling out the paperwork, two people try to buy it from the dealer. Also, oddly enough, even though I had a CHL, the dealer called the FBI and asked 'mommy-may-I' from the Govt. Strange.
Anyway, here are the pics!
I have not shot it yet, but I plan to probably Tuesday during lunch. Initial impressions are favorable. It is not as ungainly as it seems, and it pretty easy to tote around. I hooked up a 'tactical' one point bungie sling to it, and it is actually pretty easy to move around with. That would probably be the way I will carry it when woodsbumming.
Oh, and of course, for penance for getting another gun off my short list- I lose my voice. So, I finally get this cool, geeky, and pretty much impractical gun- and I can't talk to anyone about it.

That is a sweet piece of 'ware you got. I'm happy you finally tracked it down. That is curious that the dealer still called it in. But, you and I know from experience that dealers sometimes just think they know.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
ReplyDeleteyeah, this dealer was probably just flying on autopilot. Eh- it's not like it was a big deal.
