Yesterday was the 100th anniversary of the Adoption of the 1911 by the US Army. I completely fraking missed it. I was so busy that I carried a plastic framed 9mm (but it was Cocked and Locked, so I had that going for me) and did not realize my Faux Pass until this morning.
So, to further alienate myself from the Church of JMB, I am going to go with these photos, and point out that Saint John really did not follow Rule #3: Keep Your Finger Off The Trigger Until You Are Ready To Make A Loud Noise And Put A Hole In Something (on the internet, it's called 'Keep Your Booger Hook off the Bang Switch')
Yes, this is blatant puddin' stirrin' to get the safety geeks that freak and write letters/ emails/ message board posts/ blog posts to any publication or person that posts a picture of a finger on or near a trigger.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
I'm wearing green today, only because I could not find any decent orange to wear. In case you did not know; in Ireland green traditionally is for the Catholics, and Orange is for the Protestants.
But then again, we are in America, so the only St. Patrick's Day colors we care about are-

Getting ready for St. Patrick's Day
Lunch is some fresh traditional Irish Soda Bread and a good beer.
Granted, it's an IPA, and not an Irish Stout... But it works.

Hands on with the Rossi Ranch Hand
And no, it's not me... damnit.
Michael Bane has one, and is using it to shoot Zeds.
I guess it will work good for that, at least for the first 6 or 7. Then you gotta reload one by one in that teeny-tiny loading gate.

Sheeple
The first four ironic hipsters line up to be the first person at Starbucks to have an iPad 2 (the electric boogaloo)
I am an Apple fan and user. But lining up like that is ridiculous.

It's a poor craftsman that blames his tools.
But sometimes, the right equipment makes ALL the difference in the world.
I got the chance to cook on an awesome piece of equipment this weekend:
The Fontana Gusto Wood Fired Oven
Not mine, since this thing has a price entry point of about five grand... plus shipping. Since it is 800 pounds, shipping probably costs a pretty penny. Here is the one I was working on:
Yeah, this thing is pretty wicked. Well, if you can ever call an oven "wicked". Anyway, we put it together from it's shipping crate from Italy, plugged in the power for convection and light, and loaded up with some old crappy wood.
In no time, the stone was getting hot enough to make Pizza:
I made up a dough recipe, threw together some ingredients...
This was the start of a white pizza- olive oil, mozzarella, and added some basil at the end. It turned out awesome.
Here is a pie that my wife made. Mozzarella, prosciutto, arugula, lemon vinaigrette and shaved Parmesan cheese. This was a truly excellent pizza.
I have grilled Pizza on stones on the grill, direct on the grill grates, and on stones in the oven. NOTHING came close to using this purpose built tool for the task.
I am going to research some flatbread recipes and stock up on some bread to keep around the house.

Borepatch: On why women should shoot and how I got here.
Borepatch: On why women should shoot and how I got here.
Great an insightful post. And since my wife hit me up with the "I want to get my CHL this month" conversation this morning, Very timely as well.

Why Liberals love Choo-Choo Trains
George Will knocks this one out of the park on why liberals and 'Progressives' love trains and hate the fact that we are in personally owned cars and trucks.
This really reflects on our own localretards Austin city council and the unexplained hard-on that they have for screwing up our few functioning roads and putting trolleys, 'Urban Rail' and light rail on or across them. They hate the fact that we aren't good little sheep just getting onto trains at the prescribed time and place.

Cool idea on 'teh intarwebz"
Saw this linked to off of New Jovian Thunderbolt:
Watertight, transparent ammo storage. I like the idea, and since I have a toddler in the house, it fits into the "Reduce, Reuse, recycle" mantra that the little bastard 'Go Diego Go' keeps hammering into our heads between earworm theme songs. Grrr.... anyway.
But It reminded me of something I am doing at home myself. We use a lot of rice at the house, and end up with a few of these containers every one or two months:
I've been using this to store reloaded ammo. Just dump the ammo in the container, toss in a post it note with the recipe, and stack em in the closet. I'll try and post a pic when I get home.
